Books We Love to come Back to

Updated: Jan 17, 2021

Here are 5 of our favorites not-just-reading children's books we love to come back to. We love to look at the wonderful illustrations, talk over and read the story even when there are no words.

we recommend that you look for these books at your local library, or borrow them from a friend or try to find them at a local second hand book store.

Do you know Pippi Longstocking\ Astrid Lindgren, Illustrator Ingrid Vang Nyman

We love this Classic Pippi Longstocking book. We love Pippi's smart and simple thoughts about life, that she shares with Tommy and Anika her friends. We love the detailed illustrations which you can spend long fun moments exploring together.

Here is Pippi and her friends Tommy and Anika, and of course her horse and Mr.Nilsson (her monkey) are playing together "dont touch the floor" game. Can you find Mr.Nilsson?

All Around Bustletown \ Rotraut Susanne Berner

Another one of our favorites is actually a series of books, "All Around Bustletown": Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn,

(and recently we were happy to find the new 'Night' book). Its a story without words about a small town and its people who live (and work, play, meets, hides, builds, and a lot more) there, over the seasons that passes by. You will meet families and friends, and their friends on four or flying friends.., and know their names by heart. We love that each book has a story of its own, but the books are also connected with additional stories that continues through the seasons.

little beauty \ anthony browne

This is a beautiful short story about Gorilla (the gorilla) and Little beauty (a sweet kitten). The beautiful and detailed illustrations are captivate and soft. The short plot becomes entangled when somebody gets into trouble. Who or Why? you'll have to reveal it your self!

Che cosa ci vuole \ Gianni Rodari, illustration by Silvia Bonanni

The book answers a question: what does it take to build a table? ("Che cosa ci vuole" is "What does it take" in Italian).

Each Colorful spread answers the question and explains, with almost no words, one (or few) things that you should have if you want to build a table. We love to carefully investigate the unique and artistic collages that beautifully demonstrates natural and man made environments: indoor/outdoor, birds, plants, seeds, fruits and more.

Olivia\ Ian Falconer

we love 'Olivia' books!

Each and every one of 'Olivia' books are smart, makes you laugh and you can easily find yourselves in Olivia's adventures. We just love all 'Olivia' books. Here on the left you can see Olivia's little brother Ian meets a new friend at the beach while Olivia is busy improving her building skills.

And Here, Olivia is very proud of her art work after an inspirational visit at the Museum (look for it in the book!).
